Western Massey Fellowship Program
In spring 2024 Western introduced a new fellowship opportunity for faculty members, made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding with Massey College, a prestigious think tank at the University of Toronto which convenes graduate students, distinguished academics and established leaders from all disciplines, industries, and backgrounds to share ideas and knowledge.
The Western Massey Fellowship Program includes two fellowship positions, available to Western faculty who will be on sabbatical for the upcoming academic year (either on six-month or 12-month leave).
Through this fellowship program, Western scholars can apply for privileges at Massey College where they will spend their leaves and sabbaticals. The Western Massey Fellows will be provided the privileges enjoyed by Senior Residents of Massey College in Toronto as follows:
- A prime office in the College shared by the two Western Massey Fellows for a period of 8 months for the ensuing academic year;
- Access to Robarts Library at UofT;
- Access to carrels and study areas in the Robertson Davies Library at Massey College;
- Access to all public rooms;
- The right to attend all events (subject to College rules); and
- Membership in the Massey Alumni Association for as long as they choose beyond completion of the program.
Fellows are expected to maintain a presence at the College and engage in scholarly and social activities.
Applications for the 2025-26 year will open in early 2025.
