Florentine Strzelczyk is the current Provost and Vice-President (Academic) at Western University, beginning her five-year term in May 2022.

The Provost and Vice-President (Academic) at Western University has two distinct but aligned roles: 

1. The Provost serves as Chief Operating and Budget Officer. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting budget development for faculties and support units (see Budget Timeline for more information)
  • Aligning planning and budget allocations to support strategic institutional priorities
  • Leading cross-campus initiatives

2. The Vice-President (Academic) serves as Chief Academic Officer, overseeing the priorities of the Academy which is central to the mission of the university. Responsibilities include:

  • Aligning decisions with academic priorities
  • Directing deans and vice-provosts
  • Leading faculty renewal and program innovations
  • Overseeing labour relations with academic unions

Within these dual roles, the Provost is responsible for identifying areas that require transformation and then resourcing the required change.
