Cluster Hiring Initiatives

As part of Western’s continuing commitment to supporting equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenization, the University has launched two cluster hires, supported through the Provost’s Academic Renewal Fund, to support the recruitment of Black and Indigenous faculty members to Western.

“This funding signifies Western’s deep commitment to pursuing meaningful, systemic change as we work together to embed EDI principles into the institutional structure of the university,” said Sarah Prichard, acting provost and vice-president (academic). Read more on this announcement on Western News.

The application process for these new positions is open now. Review of applications will begin in January 2022 and recruitment will continue until all positions are successfully filled.

Applications are welcome from candidates at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Our intention is to recruit faculty at a range of career stages, but there is no pre-determined distribution of rank.

Applications from scholars working in Black Studies and Indigenous Studies are welcome. However, we are seeking excellent scholars in any area of research, and preference will be given to applications in areas which support Western’s Indigenous Strategic Plan (2016) and Towards Western at 150.
